London Launches A Bus For Dogs

London launches a dog bus

The idea of a bus for dogs and their owners taking a sightseeing tour of the city of London seems more than interesting. However, it was an experience that lasted just four days. The reason is that it was part of an advertising strategy for an insurance company that, in parallel, launched a new product for dogs.

A sightseeing tour of iconic London landmarks with your furry

Beyond commercial issues, we are left with the experience that could be permanently replicated in different parts of the world. And, fortunately, more and more benefits are being contemplated for people who come with pets to different public places.

This bus for dogs, with the name K9 and decorated for the occasion, made a journey of 1 hour. It circulated through some of the most emblematic places of this European capital. He also had a guide to tell the “canine” history of London.

For example, mention the furry people who have inhabited 10 and 11 Downing Street. These are the official residences of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, respectively. Or a review of the more than 30 Pembroke Welsh Corgi dogs that delighted Queen Elizabeth II of England. He currently has one named Willow.

Some of the points of interest that this typical double-decker bus covered, and with a capacity for 60 passengers, were :

  • The Royal Palaces of Buckingham and Kensington.
  • Hyde Park, which houses a pet cemetery used in Victorian times. The place, with small tombstones, is almost hidden behind iron bars, in one of the many nooks and crannies of the park.
  • Towers of Victoria Gardens. It is the site where parliamentarians and their pets participate in the Westminster Dog of the Year competition.
  • Green Park, a special stop for humans and furry to get out of the vehicle and take a walk. This is surely the part that most interested the dogs of the entire circuit.
  • The Kennel Club, founded in 1859 when there were no clear rules for dog shows. In addition, it has an art gallery that houses the largest collection of dog paintings on the continent.

Laws and gastronomy were not left out of the dog tourist circuit either

Another place on the route of this dog bus was the British Parliament. And it is that from this place no less than 24 laws have come out referring to dogs in particular and another 11 that deal with animals in general.

The most recent of the norms is the one that establishes that pets must be identified with a microchip where all their data is registered.

Also at the end of the tour, the possibility of eating or having a drink in the different bars and restaurants designed for pets and humans was offered. Fortunately, this is an option on the rise, especially in large cities.

An initiative that deserves to be repeated

The privileged people who were able to access this tour with their furry for free had to make a prior reservation through an internet page.

In addition, they had to give their consent for the dissemination of their image and that of their pets by various means through photos and videos. Let’s not forget that it was an advertising strategy for the launch of a specific product.

And, of course, they had to take responsibility for the good behavior of their dogs during the walk. Otherwise, there was a risk that both humans and animals would be lowered from the vehicle in the middle of the ride.

What city would you like to visit with your pet on a tourist bus? Surely we will soon have news about similar services in different parts of the world.
