Dogs Make Your Life Complete
“They are not your whole life, but dogs make your life complete.” It’s a popular aphorism from Roger Caras, an American wildlife photographer, writer, and conservationist, who invites us to reflect that while caring for a dog shouldn’t occupy every aspect of our lives, it does make it much better.
As any dog lover knows, they bring many positive aspects to people’s lives. So, for all those who are thinking of getting a dog, they will be happy to know the great benefits that a dog can bring.
They are excellent with children
Owning dogs has actually been shown to improve children’s self-esteem, plus many breeds are renowned for being excellent babysitters, while also helping to greatly reduce childhood stress. In general, minors become more responsible.
We all know that children adore puppies, but in addition, research has shown that children from dog-owning families have better school attendance because they have better overall health and remain more active.
They improve your mood
Spending 15 to 30 minutes with your dog can help you feel calmer and more relaxed, reduce stress, and increase your happiness. Playing with your puppy increases the levels of dopamine and serotonin in the brain, which are neurotransmitters associated with pleasure and tranquility.
So now you know: The next time you’re feeling down, grab your pet’s favorite toy and spend some time with it. It is sure to improve your mood.
They improve your physical well-being and encourage you to do healthy exercises
Your dog requires daily exercise, and so do you. Dog owners have a responsibility to play with them, and for all the energy this demands, they tend to be more active.
They help you increase social interactions
Dogs don’t just need time and attention to play with you. They also need time to socialize with other puppies.
This means that you will have the opportunity to socialize while supervising your dog’s play dates.
In fact, it’s common to start new friends at your dog’s play park because, while your dog is playing with a new friend, you can start a conversation with the sitter.
They protect us from skin diseases and allergies
Children who grow up with dogs have a lower risk of developing skin problems compared to those who have cats or do not have any kind of pet.
In addition, children also develop fewer allergies to pets (either from hair or skin mites) if they grow up with a dog.
Dogs can save your life
Our precious canine friends seem to be able to detect the smell of cancer in human bodies. There have been stories of puppies that started licking and sniffing moles or bumps on their caretakers’ bodies and eventually found those skin abnormalities to be cancerous.
In fact, since this discovery was made, dogs have been trained for this purpose.
Reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
Studies show that talking and petting dogs often improves blood pressure, and that means a lower risk of different heart conditions. Don’t hesitate for a second and spend more time with your puppy.
They are excellent for service
Canines make excellent service companions and, with proper training, can help people with disabilities.
They can be trained to carry medications, serve as guides, help with simple tasks, and even spot an oncoming seizure.
Boredom ends
There are so many things you can do with your dog, whether it’s taking a walk in the park, training him, playing, running, or simply watching him chew on a toy.
Everything with your dog is fun, so you will hardly wonder what to do today?
