Are There Discotheques For Dogs?

Are there discos for dogs?

In New York, in the middle of Manhattan, there is a place that works by day as a nursery, with massages, a hairdresser, a meditation room, a cinema … But the best comes at night: the old tobacco factory becomes one of the first dog clubs.

You can enjoy drinks of all kinds, but without alcohol. The accompanying humans can choose between staying in the waiting room (where there is a coffee machine, daily newspapers and a few iPads to entertain themselves), leaving the pets in charge of various caregivers, or going inside and participating in the dance if we are happy.

The space of the premises is wide so that the dogs that are partying have a good time: 300 square meters. To become a member, about $300 a year is enough.

The club-disco is open from seven in the afternoon until midnight. Thus, pets can have fun while their owners fulfill their social agenda.

Looking for new spaces and dog-friendly clubs

It has been estimated that there are at least 500,000 dogs in Manhattan and most live in spaces too small for their needs. It was, therefore, a matter of finding a place that would serve as fun for them, fostering social relationships for the owners, and all this to the sound of music. Social, doggy and fun. That is, the clubs for dogs.

As in the clubs for people, there are VIP clients, who come several times a week and have the deserved recognition of the owners of the premises.

In London, zoos can be nightclubs

Some residents of the London Zoo have been upset when they have learned of the plans that the place has to make a “disco with animals. ” Zoo Enterprises Ltd, as the company is called, has applied to the Westminster council for a license to serve alcohol and host concerts, sporting events and film screenings until 2 a.m., seven days a week, with a maximum of 15,000 assistants.

More than 100 people, residents of the area, have reacted to this initiative, saying that this proposal would break the tranquility of the neighborhood around the zoo, Regent Park and Primrose Hill.  Police and the Camden neighborhood have also registered concerns.

The voices that have been raised against this initiative argue that public order can be disturbed and this will have a great impact on public safety.

Incidents at the zoo

This zoo that wants to become a nightclub has been the source of various altercations, which is one more concern for the people of the area. Among the incidents that have occurred at the London Zoo, is the case of a man who poured beer on a tiger. Another reportedly stripped off his clothes and tried to take a dip in the penguins’ pool.

And that’s not counting the large number of squashed butterflies, in addition to the stress that animals suffer from lack of sleep due to loud sounds and flash lights when taking pictures.

The London Metropolitan Police itself has claimed to be concerned about this type of annoying behavior that seriously disrupts public safety.

However, for all these complaints, this Zoo has encouraged the setting up of an emergency telephone line to deal with antisocial behavior problems.

In the words of the director of the London Zoo himself, Rich Storton ,  “There is no intention of changing the current use of ZSL London Zoo or increasing the number or capacity of nightly outdoor events.” “We have worked hard to make sure our neighbors are calm to date, including calling for a public consultation for local residents to meet with us and discuss the application.”

“We have a long history of hosting private events like weddings and bar mitzvahs, which provide vital income for our conservation work. This is simply an update of our existing license agreements and those that suggest that what we are proposing amounts to an ‘outdoor disco’ is totally wrong. “

Can dogs dance?

The answer is yes. Music can make our friend relax, calm his anxiety and cheer up his mood. And even do something like dancing.

The music most appreciated by dogs is classical music, which has the ability, also in humans, to awaken the five senses and move emotions.
