The Strong Character Of Cats

The strong character of cats

Cats are typically known for two things: their independent personality and their strong character. Although we all surely know some affectionate cat that does not skimp on pampering for its owners and others, hidden behind that, there is a strong character. To understand it, we must first know certain things about them.

The origin of cats

Cats are descended from felines and as such they have a strong character. All come from the Felis Catus, which has been related to humans for about 4000 years. The first to domesticate cats were the Egyptians.

Cats had a strong influence on the Egyptians thousands of years ago, who took them either as pets or as gods. Yes, the cat was a sacred and worshiped animal in ancient Egypt. This may explain the reason for his elegant and regal presence.

Due to the large number of rodents that lived in these areas, the cat became a hunter and gained the trust and affection of humans. Hence, the cat is a hunter by nature. So much was the trust gained by cats, that despite their strong character, some Egyptians mummified their cats together with other mice to feed them, to accompany them on their journey to the afterlife.

As they grew fond of them, the Egyptians began to worship them, even making statues of expensive materials in the shape of a cat to worship them.

His strong character and his evolution

If we unite their descent from the felines to the excessive adoration that the Egyptians gave them, it is possible that they were factors that turned the character of the cats into a strong character, becoming almost arrogant.

However, after the Egyptians, many other nations began to choose cats as their pets and this began the domestication process. This evolved a lot to make cats what we know today.

Strong character or affectionate?

This is a dilemma between cat lovers and non-lovers. Are animal cats with a strong character, reaching surly, or are they sweet and cuddly? It is not difficult to find a cat that roars around us looking for our affection, perched on us in bed to say good morning, or rubbing with our leg to caress and be caressed.

But this does not have to be counteracted by the fact that they have a strong character. The truth is that cats have a personality marked by two things, their strong character and their sweetness. Which one predominates? Much will depend on the type of domestication that the cat has had, how you educate it, the treatment it receives and of course, its own personality.

When the kitten has just arrived home, it is normal for him to feel uncomfortable, to be afraid, to hide under the bed and to be a little surly or show a strong character. Our advice is: Be patient. Don’t force it out or want to pick it up to get it out. You will not succeed and it is possible that he activates his offensive defense.

Whenever you caress it, repeat its name lovingly and sweetly. Get him used to petting him as a child while he eats or drinks water. This will give you confidence that no one is taking your food and that you can be calm at any time of the day.

You don’t want to spend all day trying to teach your cat things. This will make him bored and surly. Do short sessions. Don’t yell at him, use affection. Remember, they treat us like we treat. Do you want a surly cat? Yell at him. Do you want a cute, sweet and affectionate cat? Be tender, sweet and loving yourself.

And above all, be constant, do not give up easily and you will have good results. It is true that cats will always have a strong character, but they can be very tender and affectionate, everything will depend on you and how hard you try.
